Sustrans commissioned this 38.2m x 3m cycle bridge at Reach Lode, Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire as part of the Sustrans Connect 2 scheme to form a traffic free cycle network through the fens. CTS designed the strucure, planned and carried out the installation. V shaped trestles were used to reduce the effective structural span and provide a more aesthetic appeal than a basic column solution. The 1.4m high cycle compliant parapet is integral with the truss and is clad with elements of green oak which provides a tactile surface for users on the bridge.
